Roofing distributors serving Colorado

Most roofing reaches your house through a wholesale distributor, not a store. Here's who the big ones are in Colorado, who owns them, and whether you can buy from them.

Updated October 30, 2026

Colorado Roof Guide has no business relationship with any company on this page, as of October 2026. We list them for reference only.

When your roofer orders shingles, they almost never come from the factory or a hardware store. They come from a distributor, a wholesaler that stocks roofing from many manufacturers and delivers it to job sites. Knowing who the distributors are helps you understand where your materials come from, and why your roofer may favor certain brands.

Distributor, manufacturer or store?

  • Manufacturers make the product, like GAF or Owens Corning. They set the specs and the warranty. See who makes roofing sold in Colorado.
  • Distributors buy from many manufacturers, warehouse the products locally and deliver them, often straight onto the roof. They mostly sell on account to contractors.
  • Big-box stores sell to anyone, including homeowners, but carry a narrower range of roofing products.

Can homeowners buy from a distributor?

The large distributors describe themselves as serving professional contractors. ABC Supply says it serves professional contractors exclusively. We didn't verify whether any branch refuses a walk-in homeowner at the counter. In practice, most homeowners buy roofing through their contractor, and the contractor's price includes materials. Big-box stores do sell shingles directly to the public.

ABC Supply

ABC Supply began in 1982 as American Builders and Contractors Supply. Ken and Diane Hendricks bought three supply centers from Bird & Sons to start it. Its national support center is in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Ownership and growth timeline:

  • 2010: acquired Bradco Supply and its 128 locations, then its largest deal. Bradco went to ABC, not to US LBM, a common mix-up.
  • 2015: acquired Norandex.
  • 2016: acquired L&W Supply.
  • 2022: acquired Kaycan's U.S. distribution and Canada's Monarch Group.
  • 2023: bought several specialty businesses from US LBM, including Coastal Roofing Supply, adding 42 locations.
  • 2025: added more regional roofing distributors.

ABC reports more than 1,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. In Colorado, a 2017 press release counted nine locations, including Denver and two in Colorado Springs, and ABC opened a Durango branch in 2023. We couldn't verify the current full branch list. Use ABC's location finder.

QXO (formerly Beacon)

QXO's roofing business is the former Beacon, which traces back to Beacon Sales Company, founded in 1928 in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Before its sale, Beacon was based in Herndon, Virginia.

  • October 1, 2015: Beacon completed its roughly $1.1 billion purchase of Roofing Supply Group (RSG). RSG went to Beacon, not SRS.
  • January 2, 2018: Beacon completed its purchase of Allied Building Products from CRH for about $2.625 billion. Allied then had 208 locations in 31 states.
  • April 29, 2025: QXO completed its purchase of Beacon for about $11 billion, and the business took the QXO name at closing.

QXO is based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and its CEO is Brad Jacobs. Its site lists more than 1,150 locations and describes its customers as professionals. Older Beacon branch pages showed Colorado branches in Aurora/Denver, Denver, Frederick and Grand Junction. Those now redirect to QXO, and we didn't verify the current list. See QXO's store finder.

SRS Distribution and American Roofing Supply

SRS Distribution was founded in 2008 and is based in McKinney, Texas. It distributes to roofers, landscapers and pool contractors through a family of local brands.

  • 1983: American Roofing Supply was founded in Denver, serving the Front Range and eastern Colorado.
  • April 2018: SRS, then owned by Berkshire Partners, agreed to buy American Roofing Supply and said it would run all its Colorado locations under that name.
  • December 2018: SRS opened an Englewood branch under the American Roofing Supply banner.
  • June 18, 2024: The Home Depot completed its purchase of SRS, at an enterprise value of about $18.25 billion.
  • November 2025: SRS acquired Specialty Wood Products, an Aurora decking and siding distributor.

American Roofing Supply is the only Colorado-founded roofing distributor we verified. It has a Loveland/Fort Collins branch on U.S. Highway 34, among others. We didn't verify a current full branch list. See American Roofing Supply's page.

Elite Roofing Supply

Elite Roofing Supply was founded in 2013 in Glendale, Arizona, and describes itself as an independent, locally owned distributor. It had Colorado branches in Denver, Loveland and Colorado Springs by late 2018 and opened its fifth Colorado branch, in South Denver, in January 2023. We didn't verify its current branch list.

Other names you may hear

US LBM ran seven Colorado lumber and building-material yards as of 2024, including Breckenridge, Colorado Springs, Edwards, Henderson and Woodland Park. We didn't verify whether those yards stock roofing. We also couldn't verify other "Rocky Mountain" or "Western States" roofing distributors, so we haven't listed them.

Big-box stores and pro desks

The Home Depot

Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank and is based in Atlanta, with more than 2,300 stores. Its site sells shingles to anyone from brands including GAF, IKO, Owens Corning and Atlas. Since 2024 it also owns SRS, so it now operates on both the retail and the contractor-wholesale side.

Lowe's

Lowe's traces its roots to 1921, when L.S. Lowe opened a hardware store in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. It sells shingles including Owens Corning Duration STORM.

Both chains run pro desks for contractors. Big-box roofing can work for a shed or a small repair. For a full re-roof, contractors usually buy through a distributor that can deliver to the roof.

Why this matters to you

Ownership in this industry changes fast. Two of the biggest names, SRS and Beacon, changed hands in 2024 and 2025, so a branch sign may not match the company that owns it. You'll rarely deal with a distributor directly. But your roofer's supplier affects which brands and colors are easy to get, and how fast materials arrive after a big storm. If a quote names a specific product, it's fair to ask whether it's in stock locally. For product choices, see Class 4 impact-resistant roofing, and for choosing a contractor, see hiring a roofer.
